Join Fat Quarter Shop as we honor Ruby Bridges and support UNCF with our 2024 Stronger Together Quilt Along. Featuring blocks from four Black designers, we are excited to create a quilt that honors the courage and strength Bridges showed in the years following the monumental case of Brown vs. Board of Education. We love, value and support the work of UNCF, and we invite you to share in this beautiful quilt along!
Fat Quarter Shop is sharing the 2024 Stronger Together Quilt Pattern in support of UNCF (United Negro College Fund), and we encourage you to donate $15 (below) to our UNCF campaign for the use of each of this free pattern!
The sampler quilt design was inspired by civil rights activist Ruby Bridges. The year was 1960, and at the tender age of six, Bridges became the first African American student to integrate an elementary school in the South. Elements in the quilt represent the theme of education, integration, and progress. The free pattern includes a short biography to highlight Ruby’s lifelong work as a civil rights activist.
The block designers are Mary Davis, Shereece Nicole, Jeresther Page, and Vickeidy Plybon. In February, the designers will be sharing their blocks on Instagram with the hashtag #FQSSstrongerTogether2024, so join them to follow along! This year’s quilt is made with a 2024 Stronger Together Designer Bundle made from Art Gallery Fabrics solids and basics.
During the quilt along in February 2024, we invite you to join us in sewing part of the design each week for five weeks! We will post the FREE pattern for download on our blog.
The Stronger Together Designer Bundle is available for sale at the Fat Quarter Shop. If you wish to sew along with other fabrics or floss from your stash, please refer to the pattern as a guide to prepare for the quilt along.
