The UNCF Houston Walk for Education provides corporate sponsors, community organizations, and friends/family with an excellent opportunity to change the lives of deserving college students by raising much needed scholarship dollars.

UNCF plays a critical role in enabling more than 65,000 students each year to obtain college degrees and in providing operational support to our 39 member Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

In 2007, the UNCF Houston Walk for Education drew 2,500 walkers and raised more than $350,000. Our top six corporate fundraising teams were:

		ExxonMobil		$33,000
		CenterPoint		$29,000
		United Space Alliance		$16,000
		Chevron		$ 9,000
		Marathon		$ 5,000

Our 2008 walk goal is $450,000! You can help by registering for the walk and raising funds to reduce financial barriers to college. Registration is FREE! However, every registered participant who donates $40 will be eligible for a 2008 commemorative T-shirt. Remember, seventy-five percent of the funds we raise will benefit aspiring students from the great state of Texas and our five Texas UNCF member institutions.

Take advantage of the park's:

• fishing pond, filled with large mouth bass and catfish
• 2 eighteen hole public Disc Golf Courses
• and the beautiful winding nature trails

Other new features of the 2008 UNCF Walk for Education include:

• a Young Genius Playground, which will feature activities for children of all ages like a moon bounce, a rock-climbing wall, face painting, and more!
• a Celebration Stage, which will showcase local talent
• and light refreshments for registered participant.
