The 26th Annual UNCF Los Angeles Walk for Education is the largest UNCF fundraising event in California. It enjoys substantial support among corporate executives, political and community leaders, churches, and civic organizations in the Greater Los Angeles area. The event serves as a means of keeping the Los Angeles community informed about the tremendous effort of UNCF to support its 39 member institutions, while also generating resources for the 65,000 students that attend them. The leaders and supporters of the UNCF Los Angeles Walk for Education understand the importance of the UNCF mission and the need to raise money to continue that mission. Many participants are proud alumni of one of the 39 HBCUs supported by UNCF, and look forward each year to doing something tangible to support the institutions that gave many of them their beginning. The training, tools and skills they've acquired have help many to reach some of their life's goals – helping their families, being a productive citizen, and supporting their community.
The 26th Annual UNCF Los Angeles Walk for Education will commence at Exposition Park, behind the Natural History Museum, at the corners of Menlo Ave. & Coliseum Dr. The UNCF Los Angeles Walk for Education will begin at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Registration opens at 7:30 am. The 5K UNCF Los Angeles Walk for Education route will cover the areas bordering Exposition Blvd., Figueroa St., Martin Luther King Blvd. and Vermont Ave.
The UNCF Los Angeles Area Office is grateful to all of its sponsors, volunteers and participants for making this event a success each and every year.
