The Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon (MAWWLL) is a gala fundraiser event of the UNCF. At the luncheon, Dr. Maya Angelou, who kindly donates her time and name to this event, and who is a long time UNCF volunteer, will present awards on behalf of UNCF, to women who are leaders and have brought positive recognition locally, statewide, and nationally. Dr. Angelou will also present the coveted UNCF Lifetime Achievement Award. The MAWWLL is preceded by the “Morning Glory Affair” with the new Honoree’s Forum led by two past honorees sharing “their story and their glory. ” There will be shopping, mimosas/champagne, a silent auction, and the very popular parade of hats. The UNCF Maya Angelou Women Who Lead “Excellence” Award was established to recognize a group of women who have made achievements in various professional fields. This year’s Excellence Award will recognize women in the field of Human Resources/Diversity and Inclusion. The UNCF Maya Angelou Women Who Lead “Evening Gala” was established in 2010 to conclude a weekend of fun and fundraising. This year’s MAWWLL Evening Gala will feature entertainment, dancing, and fine cuisine. Silent Auction Enjoy a private luncheon with Dr. Maya Angelou at her home in Winston-Salem, for six persons, compliments of Dr. Angelou. Details: To take place in 2012 with the schedule to be coordinated by UNCF. Winners must arrange their own transportation. A UNCF staff member will be present at the luncheon. Interested parties may submit pre-bids by e-mail until Friday, June 15, 2012. Pre-bids are accepted with the understanding that higher silent auction bids on site on event day supersede the prior highest pre-bid. The minimum pre-bid is $2,500.
