Shaquika Hughes

Shaquika Hughes has completed her first year at Spelman College in Atlanta. One of seven siblings, she is the first in her family to attend college. A high achiever, who is also driven to community service, Shaquika is a student ambassador, a peer tutor and a member of several campus organizations that focus on giving back to the community around them. She plans to become a lawyer, and one day, a law professor. She is ecstatic and honored to receive the scholarship, and is thrilled that donors like you believe in her as much as she believes in herself. Norsha White

Norsha White is “inspired to be remarkable beyond measure.” Those are the words she wrote in her thank you letter after she received a UNCF scholarship. A sophomore at Spelman College in Atlanta, Norsha is a biology major who intends “to achieve, to serve and to change the world.” She plans to go to medical school and to become a child and adolescent developmental psychologist. She dreams of success so she studies hard, keep her grades up and practices honoring herself, her family and those who support her by upholding her college’s standard of excellence code. Amber Carter

Amber Carter recently completed her freshman year at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA. A high achiever, she is a part of the chemistry department’s accelerated program, which will allow her to enroll in medical school after her junior year. Amber is self-motivated and driven. She entered Xavier with a 4.0 GPA and a record of community service at local assisted-living facilities and at the city library. She was also a counselor to elementary school children enrolled in a theatrical summer camp. She has great plans for the future, and foremost among these, is giving back to the New Orleans community by developing a program to help single mothers attend college or get vocational training. With help from donors like you, this future anesthesiologist is on her way to a bright and dynamic career. And, all because donors like you decided to help.

Kristopher Hicks

Kristopher Hicks plans to guide his congregation’s spiritual growth and development and to lead them in their social responsibilities. A theology major at Oakwood University in Alabama and a member of the Alpha Chi Honors society, Kristopher works hard at his studies and also volunteers at homeless shelters and in other community-based programs. Daily, he remembers that he could not have gotten to college without the help of family, friends, school counselors and, most importantly, donors like you. He sends special thanks to our UNCF donors and promises to one day pass it forward by supporting his university and other students who, like him, needed a little help and an opportunity to excel.

Cedric Lott

Cedric Lott will be a freshman at Wiley College in Marshall, TX, in the fall. Through his hard work and determination, Cedric graduated from high school with very good grades. During his senior year, he co-captained the boy’s varsity basketball team, was vice president of the Kappa League, a high school fraternity, and was an Eagle Scout. He is a faithful member of his church where he is a youth leader and a Sunday school teacher. At Wiley, Cedric plans to major in secondary education and become a history teacher. He aims to teach at inner city schools where he feels that he can contribute to being a welcome male role model for children. Cedric will attend college because loyal donors like you care about his future.

Isaiah Grace

Isaiah Grace is looking forward to his freshman year at Morehouse College, in Atlanta, GA. He will major in business administration and accounting because he is passionate about math and business. He is eager to attend college because he will have the opportunity to develop his leadership skills and learn the importance of ethical behavior and civic engagement. Isaiah is a leader-in-training and will be at Morehouse College this fall because you cared enough to help him on the way to his dream.
