About the Walk/Run for Education
Milwaukee's annual UNCF Walk/Run for Education has become an anticipated family-oriented 5K (3.1 mile) walk and certified run for corporate employees, donors, volunteers and friends. This fundraising event was formed to raise funds for UNCF students in the form of scholarships and services. UNCF students attend over 900 colleges and universities. UNCF also supports 37 historically black colleges and universities.
Corporate teams, fraternities, sororities, groups, churches, organizations and individuals who participate realize that "a mind is a terrible thing to waste"® and also understand the importance of "giving back."
Many participants are proud alumni of historically black colleges and universities. They look forward each year to this measurably tangible activity that supports the institutions which have given many their start in life.
We have set a goal of raising $250,000.00. It is critical that each participant consider recruiting family and friends to sponsor your walk or run. No amount is too small! Setting and achieving your personal goal will help us reach the $250,000.00 mark!
The race ends at Veterans Park on the Lake Front where the fun begins. Each year there is a reunion atmosphere as the children enjoy activities designed specifically for them, entertainment for everyone and of course the awards for the runners and participating groups. A mini health fair will be in progress and everyone enjoys the great picnic in the park.
