In the immortal words of Sam Seaborn,

"Education is the silver bullet. Education is everything. We don't need little changes, we need gigantic, monumental changes. Schools should be palaces. The competition for the best teachers should be fierce. They should be making six-figure salaries. Schools should be incredibly expensive for government and absolutely free of charge to its citizens, just like national defense. That's my position. I just haven't figured out how to do it yet."

As funding for grants and access to student loans diminishes, the promise and potential of the next generation of college graduates is likewise on the chopping block. The good citizens and great leaders of our future need our help now. 

This year, I accepted the challenge of raising money for the 2012 UNCF New Orleans 25th Annual Walk for Education. This cause is important to me because it will make education accessible to everyone by eliminating financial barriers for deserving students. UNCF offers scholarships for students to attend college and helps to keep tuition affordable at its member schools.
