UNCF 5K Walk for Education

This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the UNCF Walk for Education and we are returning to the River! Come and join us on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy on the Riverwalk. The walk route will begin at Rivard Plaza down to the Joe Louis Arena and back to the Plaza where we will celebrate our accomplishments.

Our theme this year is Mind, Body and Spirit. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, so let’s reach our fundraising goals, work our bodies as we walk 3.25 miles and refresh our spirit with family, friends and conversation on a beautiful summer day. Our goal for this year is to raise $200,000 and have up to 1,000 walkers walking to further our student's dreams to attend a Michigan college or university as well as any of the UNCF 39 member colleges and universities!

The UNCF Walk for Education is a broad-based community fund raising event in which you can recruit individuals, family members, friends and co-workers to participate in this non-competitive Walk to raise much needed funds for the UNCF. The only competition is for the prizes, which go to a team and/or individuals based upon the amount of funds raised.

Who is invited?	Everyone
When:	Saturday, August 21, 2010
Where:	Detroit RiverFront Conservancy - Riverwalk (Rivard Plaza)
Time:	8:00 a.m. Registration 9:00 a.m. Program/warm-ups/walk begins 11:30 a.m. Finish line, kids activities including face painting, clowns, inflatable bounce house, inflatable obstacle course, and craft tables. Sponsors, corporate teams and vendors will have tables for your enjoyment.
Food:	Free morning refreshments will be available for all registered walkers and volunteers. The RiverWalk Cafe will be open at the completion of the walk with food and beverages for purchase.
