Your donation will help talented students who will earn their degrees and make great contributions to our nation.

AT&T has long been one of UNCF’s most loyal partners and supporters. This month, we are featuring the AT&T Southeast Region Workplace Campaign to showcase the company’s continued commitment to education. The AT&T workplace campaign kicks off in February of each year and is currently running in 10 states. Because of its enormous success, AT&T is planning to expand the campaign into another 22 states.

During the 2009 campaign, AT&T workers donated approximately $54,000 to help deserving students at UNCF colleges earn their degrees. In addition, AT&T matched each dollar donated to UNCF by its workers for a total of $108,000.

The southeast region campaign kicks off each year with a luncheon, raffles and entertainment. In a show of support for historically black colleges and universities, this year, the kickoff featured UNCF’s Clark Atlanta University’s Mighty Marching Panthers, the same band that was featured in the movie Drumline. Use this link to see the band performing on the Ellen Degeneres Show - http://www.cau.edu/p_releases/CAUband_ellen2.html.

The high-stepping, energetic band brought excitement, showed off the musical and artistic skills of the students and introduced many workers to the opportunities that exist at HBCUs like Clark Atlanta University. http://www.cau.edu/NewsAndPressDetails.aspx?id=30

The campaign’s success can be attributed to the great collaboration between UNCF and AT&T. Sylvia Russell, President, AT&T Georgia, who worked diligently in the campaign, is a committed supporter of education at HBCUs and of UNCF’s mission.

In spite of the economy, many thousands of workers at AT&T continue to support their favorite charities and UNCF is fortunate to be one of those charities. UNCF would like to take this opportunity to express it heartfelt thanks to AT&T for its support and for allowing us access to its workers. To the workers at AT&T, we especially want to thank you and to let you know that your donations make a big difference in the lives of these students.
